Safety at the center
Various systems are used to ensure the safety of employees and visitors in the arena:
The voice alarm system (SAA) consists of more than 2,000 loudspeakers distributed throughout the arena, which inform everyone in the building in an emergency and guide them safely to assembly points or out of the building.
Around 2,500 fire detectors and 35 smoke aspiration systems make up the fire alarm system (FAS). In addition, there are 13 linear fire detectors in the large bowl, where the main playing area is located, as well as two fire department contact points. The fire alarm system is in direct contact with the fire department so that help is available quickly in the event of a fire.
The safety technology also includes safety lighting (SiBe). Around 3,800 safety lights, standby lights and pictograms ensure that the arena can be illuminated even in the event of a power failure. Two UPS systems ensure an uninterruptible power supply for the security systems and also provide backup in the event of a power failure. The security systems are powered by a dedicated data center. 60 IT cabinets with around 5,000 data connections on 200 panels ensure smooth operation, even in an emergency.
The heart of the arena: the control center
The players of EHC Red Bull München also wanted to see this for themselves. Konrad Abeltshauser visited his future venue and had the safety technology explained to him in detail. The defender was able to see how the reverberation times for the voice alarm system in the north training hall were determined with the help of firecrackers. This is important in order to be able to set the voice alarm system so that it is easy to understand despite the reverberation.
We then went to the control center, the heart of the arena, from which all systems are controlled. This is where the information from the individual components comes together and, like a conductor in an orchestra, the control room regulates the individual systems. Depending on how the arena is used, four scenarios are preset: Ice hockey match day, basketball match day, public skating and third event.
