Catching up, party and Sido show: this is how the FC Bayern Basketball Grand Opening went// GRAND OPENINGWith a 97:89 victory over Real Madrid on Thursday evening, FC Bayern Basketball not only made a successful debut in the sold-out SAP Garden, but also ensured a perfect start to the EuroLeague.Six days after Red Bull Munich officially opened the SAP Garden with a game against the Buffalo Sabres from the National Hockey League (NHL), FC Bayern Basketball has now also celebrated its spectacular and atmospheric premiere in the new multifunctional arena in Munich's Olympic Park.
Bayern Munich's President Herbert Hainer, Bayern Munich's Honorary President Uli Hoeneß and Bayern Basketball Managing Director Marko Pesic symbolically opened the floor with a giant basketball lowered from the ceiling immediately before the start of the game.

Bayern basketball players successfully catch up
The two top European teams then played a high-class duel to kick off the EuroLeague. Bayern took a narrow lead into half-time (52:51), before last year's Spanish finalists from Madrid turned up the heat and turned the game on its head. However, the reigning German double winners were unstoppable in the fourth quarter and thus in crunch time, turning a deficit into a convincing 97:89 victory.
Surprise performance: Sido comes down from the ceiling
Sido created even more of a party atmosphere among the 11,500 spectators - including the two footballers from FC Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmich (captain of the German national team) and Serge Gnabry, former Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and many more - immediately after the end of the match. The star rapper floated down from the roof of the hall and took over the sold-out SAP Garden.
