At the Handball Super Cup matches, which traditionally open the respective season before the first Bundesliga match days, the German champions meet the cup winners to play for the first title of the season. The HBL and HBF have hosted this event together since 2024, emphasizing that handball is a game and spectator sport for the whole family.
"Outstanding general conditions"
Frank Bohmann, Managing Director of Handball-Bundesliga GmbH: "As a state-of-the-art arena, the SAP Garden offers outstanding conditions, and there is also a great deal of enthusiasm for handball in the city, region and country. The Bavarian Handball Association is one of the largest in Germany and is particularly successful in developing young players. I am convinced that we are offering all handball fans and other sports fans a very high-caliber, entertaining event. We are very much looking forward to Munich, the SAP Garden and the Olympiapark."
Christoph Wendt, Managing Director of the Women's Handball Bundesliga: "After the great success of the first joint Handball Super Cup last year, we are looking forward to offering the fans in Munich a great handball spectacle together with the men. The SAP Garden offers the perfect conditions for a top-class season opener."
By awarding the Bundesliga openings, the HBL and HBF are continuing a series of major handball events that have been successfully awarded to the Olympiapark in recent years, including matches from the 2019 World Championship and the 2024 European Championship.
