The concreting of the main playing surface is complete Next milestone on the road to professional sport// NEWSAfter the concreting of the three training ice surfaces with around 285 cubic metres of concrete each and the installation of the cooling systems was completed a few weeks ago, the foundation for the future main playing surface has now also been laid.On 27 September 2024, EHC Red Bull München will play its opening game against the Buffalo Sabres at SAP Garden in front of a sell-out crowd. Everything is already being organised in the background.
How the concreting of the upcoming main playing surface went
Once the cooling pipes had been laid and tested for leaks, the concreting work on the main playing surface began on 23 May. In a single day, around 260 cubic metres, i.e. a total of 625 tonnes of special concrete, were delivered by truck mixer and poured using a concrete pump.

The first fine spreading and levelling of the future playing surface of EHC Red Bull München was then carried out with the help of a levelling machine. The final fine levelling was carried out using a laser-controlled vibrating and smoothing machine. This technique ensures that the height of the concrete does not deviate by more than three millimetres at any point.
The surface was then smoothed with a trowel to give the surface the necessary fineness and structure.

Initial cooling of the main playing surface in prospect
Finally, the multi-layered concrete surface was covered to prevent it from drying out too quickly. After around four weeks, the initial cooling of the surface can begin before the ice for EHC Red Bull München's home games is created.
