Next milestone: The last pilaster strip is installed// NEWSAnother milestone on the way to the opening: on 2 April, the last pilaster strip was installed on the SAP Garden. The impressive exterior cladding of the new Munich landmark is now complete with a total of 260 pilaster strips.The first pilaster strip was installed at SAP Gardens at the beginning of May last year. Now, almost a year later, the striking moldings can be admired from all sides. The unique design of the individual pieces is characterized by a look reminiscent of ice hockey sticks.

This is how the last pilaster strip was installed
With a length of 9.43 meters, the last pilaster strip weighs a proud 800 kilograms. The individual parts of the pilaster strip were first screwed together on site, with Dominik Bittner, player of EHC Red Bull München, taking over the installation of the final screws.
Then, with the help of a lifting platform, a construction crane and an assembly aid specially designed for this purpose, the pilaster strip was lifted for stabilization and mounted on the SAP Garden. Despite windy weather conditions, the installation went smoothly.

The facts
The 260 pilaster strips consist of a total of over 60,000 individual parts. The individual pilaster strips are unique, as each one has a different geometry. The largest is around 18.20 meters high and weighs one ton. The shortest measures 11.60 meters and weighs around 600 kilograms.
All pilaster strips are made of pure aluminum with a wall thickness of four millimeters. Spring connections were integrated within the pilaster strips to absorb the movements and forces that act on the roof due to temperature and weather-related influences.
