Historic cool-down: how the ice skating premiere went in the SAP Garden// NEWSMonday morning saw the official start of the ice season in the SAP Garden. Athletes and visitors were impressed by the possibilities in the new multifunctional sports arena in the Olympic Park.A historic moment: after the City of Munich officially handed over the ice rinks to amateur and club sports last Friday, 9 August, the first figure skaters took to the freshly polished ice rink in "Hall 3" on Monday at 7:45 am for the free skating patch. On day one, there were already three different ice times available for public skating and two slots for free skating.

One of the first on the ice was figure skater Lara-Faye. "It was great fun and the ice was perfect. In these summer temperatures, it's the ideal place to cool off," said the 21-year-old, beaming after the hour-long skate. "I can also connect to the indoor speakers via Bluetooth and run to my favourite song. That's really cool." The student has already booked her figure skating ticket for Thursday from 12:00 noon.
Public skating gets off to a successful start
The public ice skating programme was also busy today, especially at lunchtime and in the evening. Although without individual music, this did not detract from the fun.
Tickets for public ice skating, ice dancing, figure skating and free skating can be purchased online every Friday from 14:00 in the ticket shop for the coming week.
